Brunch with Helena

I had a nice brunch today with my friend Helena at a café I frequently visit! :)
We were both hungry so we ordered A LOT of food for just the two of us:
Apple + Honey + Walnut + Cheese Salad
Eggs Benedicts + Salad (Came with two complementary Americanos)
Shrimp in Gonzola (?) Dip + Bread
Two different types of juices. I forgot what was exactly in them.. but something like mango, berries, grapefruit, orange, strawberries, etc.
I know this is a lot of food but sometimes it feels nice to splurge on a nice meal! (Plus, what we ordered was really healthy!)

Helena's eyeliner is always on point. I don't get how she does it..

We devoured the ENTIRE thing! The waiter was hesitant when we ordered so many things off the menu but we proved him wrong by finishing up all the dishes till there was barely any food left! Serves you right (ladies who were judging from the table beside us)

Helena's outfit of the day! She chose a monochrome look but still stood out in the crowd thanks to her hound tooth coat! Helena dresses so nicely outside of school, she ought to have her own style blog! :)

So basically today I took a short, 2-hour lunch break with Helena before returning to hagwon for another 4 hours of work. Although I had a great time at lunch, some funny, indescribable sadness lingered throughout my brain today... It wasn't anything serious, but it just felt like an odd mist of awkwardness fogging up my thinking for the entire day.. I don't know what the cause was, but perhaps some of it came from the fact that today was White Day (?) For those who aren't familiar with the holiday, it's basically something likeValentines Day, but the boy gives the girl something instead! I don't have a boyfriend so I wasn't expecting anything of the sort but days like this just make me feel slightly off. The same happened to me on Valentines Day whilst walking through crowds of people at the subway station with their significant others. Even though these days are just silly holidays amongst couples, I think it really is a nice feeling to spend the day with someone that means a lot to you. I spent the morning of my birthday at a flea market and an art gallery with a really good friend and I remember it made me really happy. I like going to small places nobody knows about, and I have quite unique hobbies so I feel incredibly lucky any time somebody offers to join in. Moving on from all that sappy stuff, some of you may know that yesterday, my dog went through a minor surgery because of an accident that happened at the dog salon. The groomers were cutting my dog's fur like any normal occasion but Ruby (my pet Labradoodle) stuck her tongue out and the scissors cut straight through it. It wasn't chopped off, but there was a relatively large incision on the surface of her tongue so a lot of blood was lost. Imagine someone cutting your tongue! Just the thought of it gives me the shivers. It must have been extremely painful, and the fact that dogs cannot speak makes the situation all the more horrifying. Anyway, Ruby came home late that night and she was noticeably stressed and showed high discomfort by continuously sticking out her tongue to ease the pain. (She did this the whole night) Not only is she a companion, but Ruby is like a family member to me so it made me really emotional seeing something so dear to my heart, in such pain. Fortunately, it looks like she's feeling much better today but please keep her in your prayers!
Whew! That was a lot of writing but I think I got across most of the things I wanted to say.
I know I'm not the best writer, but I like to write to relieve stress, and it feels much better to have my thoughts posted somewhere.  I don't think I've ever said this before on here, but thank you so much to all the people who read my blog! I do put a lot of effort into these posts so thank you so much for enjoying them. :) Even those who don't, I'm grateful for the fact that you were intrigued enough to click on one of the numerous Facebook links I have been posting lately. I hope all of you guys had a wonderful White Day/ ordinary Friday and I'll see you in the next blog post!

(For those not from my school, we had a day off today from school)

  1. Yum! Seems like you girls had a lovely brunch together. The shrimp in gorgonzola dip looks so heavenly, that I'd be awfully surprised if you didn't enjoy your brunch date. I'm glad that's not the case, though. Hahaha! You all look beautiful and happy. Thanks for sharing all the fun, Jina! May you get to enjoy more moments like that! All the best to you!
